Review – Michael Bublé’s New Album

I love music. All kinds of music. Hip Hop. Jazz. Country. Christian. Pop. You name it. I don’t have a favorite genre and I’m always looking for a new take on an old classic. That’s one of the reasons I like Michael Bublé – he does great renditions of classic songs.

But this album is different. To Be Loved is the newest release from Michael Bublé, and it’s quite different. Not only does he sing some favorites, but he actually ventured into songwriting and the album contains original songs. And some are so good, they definitely made their way into my iTunes playlist.

One of my favorite songs on the album, Close Your Eyes, is an original song he wrote from personal experience. “I wrote Close Your Eyes about my wife and about the power of all the women in my life—my sisters, my mom, my grandma and all women in general. Let’s face it, where would we be without them?” Seriously? What better compliment. I wish you could hear this song. It’s super sweet and I love it for it’s message and sound. You should totally buy the album for this song alone.

Another favorite? Something Stupid. He sings this one with Reese Witherspoon, who just happens to be one of my favorite actresses! I loved hearing her sing with him.

“The album swings big time: it rocks, it’s soulful, it’s happy, sometimes a little sad. It’s romantic, it’s yummy, and it’s heartfelt,” describes Michael. And that’s exactly why I love it – it’s got everything. To Be Loved features the Grammy winner singing songs by Frank Sinatra, the Bee Gees, Jackson 5, Elvis Presley, Van Morisson, and more. Plus four of his own songs using his personal life for inspiration.

To be honest, those original songs were my favorite… songs like I Got it Easy, which is “basically a song where I count my blessings and is a reminder to me and everyone to appreciate all the good parts of life. I’m a very lucky guy and I never want to forget it.” Definitely hit home for me, since that’s what this blog is all about – being grateful and counting your blessings.

If you’re interested in getting his album, you can get it on iTunes or Amazon. You won’t regret it!
