The Importance of Being Authentic

The Importance of Being Authentic - Day 10 of the 31 Days Of Blogging Your Truth series

Yesterday, we took a break from the 10 steps to blogging your truth and looked at one of my truths – grief. Why? Because in blogging my truth, I have to be authentic. If I stopped everything I was doing to do something completely different – this 31 Days series – just to join in with a bunch of bloggers and feel like I belong to the ‘it’ crowd, then I wouldn’t be true to myself or this blog.

Don’t get me wrong, though, I’m loving being part of the ‘it’ crowd as I join all these other awesome bloggers for a fun-filled 31 days. In fact, if you’re interested in other 31 days series, you should search on Twitter or Pinterest under #31Days. You can also see The Nester’s link-up for all participants and browse that way. I highly encourage it – it’s fun and informative!

You can see yesterday’s post here – it’s truly a visual art as I capture 8 days of grief through pictures and take you along with me.

But today, let’s talk about what being authentic means and why it’s so important.

I’m going to cheat though… I’m going to link you to a post I wrote awhile back, because I don’t know that I could say it any better this time around.

It’s about how not everyone is going to like you, but that’s okay. You see, to me, it’s more important to be YOU. Authentically you. And before you can be authentic in blogging, you have to be authentic in life. So, let’s start there.

be authentic

So, read this post (it will open in a new window) and then come back here and tell me what you thought.

Tomorrow, I’ll share with you about my choice to bring my authenticity into my blogging life and what it cost me, as well as how you can start being more authentic right away! For all posts in the 31 Days Of Blogging Your Truth Series, just click on the image below.

  1. I think what you said about traits being both good and bad is spot on.
